International Year of Planet Earth
The United Nations General Assembly declared 2007–2009 as International Year of Planet Earth (IYPE). The International Year aims to kindle the imagination of people everywhere with the knowledge we possess about our planet, and to ensure that knowledge is used to make the Earth a better place to live. The International Year extends from January 2007 to December 2009. It is the largest international effort to promote Earth sciences to people all over the world.
