Programme of the gala opening of the International Year of Astronomy held on January 7th 2009, Old Town Square, Prague. By this occasion, Astronomical tent with exhibition and binoculars for observing the sun was opened to the public and schools. At the opening EU Commissioner J. Potočnik, President of the International Astronomic Union C. Cesarsky, Chairman of the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic V. Pačes had the speech for public. On the piazza between the old and new building of the National Theatre the outdoor exhibition Cosmos – Adventure of Discoveries can be seen till the end of March.
