In the frame of The Week of Science and Technology 2002 presented by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic public and especially students could visit lectures on current research in ASCR, films about science and nature (BBC production, French Embassy production, Academia film Olomouc) or exhibitions (Invence 2002, Women and Science, Biodiversity and us).

Remarkable morning with scientists
Students of the Secondary School in Ceske Budejovice visited the Institute of Soil Biology, ASCR.
Looking for scientists: Those of mine have flown away. Czech Republic
During The Week of Science and Technology 2002 there were round tables arranged for journalists in the Main building of ASCR concerning the problems of science popularization and attracting young people to science, so that the Czech Republic has enough scientific capacity in the future.

PRESENTING PROJECTS
INTEGRAL - ESA astrophysical satellite
The first satellite of the European Space Agency (ESA) was projected in the Czech cooperation (Institute of Astronomy, ASCR) in the frame of the programme ESA PRODEX. It's a unique opportunity for our young astrophysical scientists to participate in an important international science programme and to evaluate recorded data.

Prof. Thomas R. Cech from Howard Hughes Medical Institute, USA, was awarded with the medal of honour of G. J. Mendel for achievements in biology.
