Secret ballot brought new candidate for the presidency of AS CR The Academy Assembly, the highest body of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic responsible for the topmost priority decisions related to the AS CR, held its XXXIII Meeting in the Municipal House in Vinohrady on December 16, 2008. Professor Jiří Drahoš, chemist by profession and deputy president of the Academy, was elected by the Academy Assembly as the new candidate for the presidency of AS CR. The president of Czech Republic will ratify this election and the nominee will be established as the new head of Academy on the occasion of the XXXIV Meeting of Academy Assembly on March 25, 2009. Before the vote, the president Václav Klaus visited the Assembly and thanked professor Václav Pačes for his contribution in the field of Science.
