Foundation of Josef, Marie and Zdeňka Hlávka together with the Czech Literary Fund Foundation annually awards the Prize for an original book of the scientific literature published in the Czech Republic. The Prize is awarded in four disciplines (in the field of Social sciences, in the field of Medical sciences, in the field of Mathematics, Physics and Earth Sciences and Milan Sojka Prize).

This year´s festive ceremony took place on June 18
th, 2012 in the Lužany Castle, residence of a prominent architect, founder and first
president of the Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts Josef Hlávka. He endowed in his last will the
Foundation to sponsore arts and sciences. The 100
th anniversary of the death of Josef Hlávka in 2008 has been cited by UNESCO as a World
Cultural Anniversary.
