Prague Will Become a World Centre of Speech Processing in 2011

Signal Processing Society is one of professional societies within the IEEE. It is the world’s premier professional society for signal processing scientists and professionals since 1948. The International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP) is the main annual meeting of the IEEE SP Society. The 36th ICASSPwill take place at the Prague Congress Centre, May 22-27, 2011.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is an organization of over 350000 Electrical and Computer Science engineers in ~150 countries worldwide. IEEE is publishing more than 100 periodicals and an important number of books (over 25% of the scientific and technical literature in electrical engineering and computer science originates from IEEE). It also organizes conferences and fosters the development of the EE and CS field. The IEEE 

The conferenceis featured by world-class speakers, tutorials, exhibits, and over 120 lecture and poster sessions on the following topics: Signal Processing Theory and Methods, Machine Learning for Signal Processing, Sensor Array and Multichannel Systems, Audio and Acoustic Signal Processing, Speech and Language Processing, Signal Processing for Communications and Networking, Image, Video, and Multidimensional Signal Processing, Biomedical Imaging, Information Forensics and Security, and Signal Processing Education. Usually, this conference is attended by about 2000 leading experts in the above areas.

Prague has received the privilege to organize the conference at ICASSP 2007 in Hawaii. The Prague event will follow a series of successful conferences in Las Vegas (2008), Taipei (2009) and Dallas (2010).

The conference organizing committee has three general chairs: Petr Tichavský from the Institute of Information Theory and Automation, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Honza Černocký from the Brno University of Technology, and Aleš Procházka from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague.
