Czech researchers launched the operation of tokamak Compass
Czech researchers launched the operation of tokamak Compass, a new fusion reactor received for free from their British colleagues, in Prague on 19 February 2009. Compass was transported to the Czech Republic from Britain in October 2007. Thermonuclear research is coordinated by the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom). The Czech Republic has been a member of Euratom for nearly ten years. The Czech republic is one of the six members participating in the ITER project within which the world's biggest tokamak is to be completed in France. Photo: Stanislava Kyselová, Academic bulletin |
