Milton Friedman

Martin Pospíšil working at CERGE-EI is author of an article on the Nobel laureate Milton Friedman (1912–2006). This American economist is well-known for his research on consumption analysis, monetary history and theory and the complexity of stabilization policy. As a leader of the Chicago School of Economics, he influenced the research agenda of the field of economics. A survey of economists ranked Friedman as the second most prominent economist of the twentieth century after John Maynard Keynes. In 1976 Prof. Friedman won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics “for his achievements in the fields of consumption analysis, monetary history and theory and for his demonstration of the complexity of stabilization policy.”
