The Institute of Philosophy AS CR organized an international workshop Apocalypticism, Millenarianism, and Prophecy – Eschatological Expectations between East-Central and Western Europe, 1560–1670, which was held in Prague on January 15–16, 2009. The workshop was focused on the topic of eschatological expectations and chiliasm in the early modern period. The workshop is also a part of the project Intellectual Networks in Central and Western Europe, 1570–1670.
Science, or Else? – Anthropocentrism in the Sciences
Science, or Else?, colloquia held at Villa Lanna, is organized by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the Collegium Helveticum, an Institute supported by both the Swiss Federal Institute
of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and the University of Zurich. They bring together scientists from various fields of research to discuss general aspects of science, the position of science in society and its consequences to humanity. This year was the 11th meeting and took place from January 16–18, 2009. Its topic was Anthropocentrism in the Sciences.
